Police say a 70-year-old man was killed while crossing the street in East Meadow Saturday night.

It happened around 5:45 p.m. while the man tried to cross Bellmore Avenue when he was hit by a Mercedes Benz.

He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

He has been identified as Surgit Singh.

Police say the driver stayed on the scene and a safety check was done on the car.

No charges have been filed so far.
