A Throgs Neck homeowner is being accused of creating a safety hazard in the neighborhood.
Richard Kehrle says he's been living at his Balcom Avenue home for 50 years. However, lately he says he feels like the whole neighborhood is against him.
"They're complaining about the urine, including my urine because I save that for fertilizer," said Kehrle.
He says his next-door neighbor first started complaining about trash, debris and bottles of urine piling up in his driveway. News 12 tried reaching out to the neighbor and has not heard back yet.
Bins and random items could be seen on the property. Items like chairs and trash cans are seen cluttering the driveway area.
However, the entryway to the house is clear. The local community board head is saying the home still looks like a fire hazard. He tells News 12 he will be in contact with city agencies immediately.
"No, there's no such thing as a fire hazard, alright? Because there's nothing here that can burn," said Kehrle. He says the materials in front of his home aren't garbage but that they are "reusable" and that he's in the process of getting rid of some of the bins.
Last year, the Department of Buildings issued him a violation for failure to maintain the property, but it was later dismissed by a judge.
Kehrle says he doesn't plan on staying in the neighborhood much longer. He tells News 12 he's hoping to move down to Florida soon.
