Coronavirus testing sites that have been strategically placed in communities that have been the most affected by the pandemic will open Monday around New York City.
Medgar Evers College is one of five testing sites being run by One Medical. The only way to get tested at the site is to make an appointment either online or on the phone, and it can do 3,500 tests a day.
There is one One Medical testing site in each borough. The Bronx site is located at 800 Exterior St.
The five locations have opened in addition to five other new testing sites opened by NYC Health + Hospitals. Their locations in East New York and Morrisania opened Friday.
The NYC Health + Hospitals sites are taking walk-ins, but their centers are focusing on testing health care workers, the elderly and who are most at risk.
People who get tested at NYC Health + Hospitals sites will have their results within two days. The sites are open Monday through Friday beginning at 8:30 a.m.
The One Medical testing site in the Bronx will be open on Mondays.
City leaders hope the 10 locations will help better fight coronavirus in communities that have seen the highest number of fatal cases.
