A new hydroponic farm built and operated by local high school students is helping feed thousands of Bronx residents.
Dewitt Clinton High School teamed up with two sustainable nonprofits to bring fresh vegetables to food insecure community members.
About 25,000 pounds of produce will grow annually at Dewitt Clinton High School with around 125 students involved.
This is the city's biggest student-built, indoor, vertical hydroponic farm, which is indoor farming that uses a mineral water base instead of soil.
Saturday’s event, referred to as the "Flip of the Switch," is just the beginning and will result feeding around 2,200 students and food insecure residents.
