A suspect accused of fatally stabbing a classmate will stand trial for manslaughter and other charges after a judge upheld a grand jury's decision to indict him.
Abel Cedeno, 18, is charged with manslaughter, assault and criminal possession of a weapon in the fatal stabbing of 15-year-old Matthew McCree. A highly publicized video apparently shows the moments before the fatal stabbing at the Urban School for Wildlife Conservation.
News 12 cameras captured Cedeno leaving the Bronx Hall of Justice on Tuesday. When asked for his reaction, he whispered in a faint voice that he could not talk with News 12.
Adriane Laboy, 16, was also stabbed but survived. His lawyer says Laboy has limited mobility in his arm.
Cedeno's lawyers maintain that he was taunted for his sexuality and that he was defending himself from bullies.
Cedeno is due back in court April 23.
