Police released a photo of the suspected killer in the deadly shooting of a 17-year-old boy in Soundview - a case News 12 has been following for more than a year.
Police say 28-year-old Christopher Mejia is wanted in connection to the killing of Sincere Campbell, who was shot outside a deli near his home on Sept. 21, 2024. The shooting was caught on camera. Police say Mejia has multiple prior arrests, including two assault cases.
Sincere's mother, Ana Vega, says seeing the suspect's photo brought back a wave of emotions.
"I was very angry and upset. A lot of emotions. It feels like I'm just reliving it all over again," she said.
Vega says she now fears for her safety and wants the suspect to turn himself in. "You need to turn yourself in. Enough is enough already. You destroy lives. You took a life," she said.
Anyone with information on Mejia's whereabouts is asked to contact police.
