The notorious TD Bank robber is still on the run nearly two weeks after police say he struck last in the Bronx.
While security is expected to be on higher alert with the ongoing serial robberies, some customers are worried that the security is not enough - customers say they’ve witnessed the bank’s security guards appearing to be slumped and distracted by their phones.
Police say five TD Bank locations were targeted and hit in the Bronx between July 15 and Aug. 4.
In each of the robberies, police say the suspect threatened the teller with a gun and demanded cash, though a gun was not seen.
The Williamsbridge Road branch of TD Bank remains unscathed so far, and TD bank issued the following statement:
“When robberies occur, we work closely with law enforcement, as we are doing in the Bronx. Our strong commitment to security pertains to all customers and colleagues in the diverse communities that we proudly serve. We hold security guards deployed at our locations to high standards and guards are required to use their mobile phones to receive security alerts, photos of robbery suspects and updates.”
