A teenager accused of shooting three students as they walked home from school in Melrose almost a week ago was back in court Thursday afternoon.
A judge ruled that 17-year-old Jeremiah Ryan will be tried in the youth part of adult court and not family court.
The prosecution played several surveillance videos that allegedly show Jeremiah Ryan during and leading up to the shooting that took the life of 16-year-old Angellyh Yambo and sent two other teens to the hospital.
They also had the testimony of a police officer who worked the case.
The prosecution also brought up as evidence a 9-millimeter ghost gun connected to the shooting.
Police say the firearm was tossed out of a fourth-floor window when Ryan was inside of his apartment.
Ryan’s stepfather and brother were in the apartment with him when this happened.
Ultimately, the judge ruled that the case would not move to family court.
Yambo’s family did not want to speak on camera but told News 12 that they were happy with the judge’s decision, even though nothing could bring her back.
Ryan will be back in court on April 26.
