Tenants in a Highbridge apartment building say that they are worried for their safety after learning their neighbor fell into the cellar through a collapsed bathroom floor.

The woman who fell had only minor injuries. Neighbors say he has not returned to the building. A partial vacate order is still in place.

The Department of Buildings says this collapse happened due to a lack of proper maintenance. According to the DOB website, the building, located at 1204 Shakespeare Ave., has 39 complaints and 34 DOB violations on record.  

“I’m scared…they don’t fix things here, this could happen to anyone here,” said tenant Raysa Mota. “Every day, we've had a leak for like six months."
