Tenants: Tree roots make sidewalk uneven, dangerous
Residents of Throgs Neck's Fort Schuyler House are asking management to take action against tree roots that have made the sidewalk uneven.
Many senior residents say the issue of protruding roots has been a problem for years and has caused people to fall.
Tenants say they have complained to management multiple times over the years to get the tree fixed once and for all, but nothing has been done.
Management did put up caution tape following two recent incidents of tenants falling to the ground. In a statement, they told News 12 they are, "reviewing security tapes to determine exactly what happened and are in the process of finding a contractor to make the necessary repairs as soon as possible."
Management also told News 12 that the tree is owned by the city. The Parks Department has not yet commented on this report.
