A Newtown church is asking for the public’s help uncovering who is responsible for their Pride flag signs being damaged over the weekend.
Rev. Andrea Castner Wyatt told News 12 she arrived to Trinity Episcopal Church on Sunday to find the church’s welcome and inclusion signs were vandalized.
"Both of our welcome and inclusion signs had been removed and that the signs that contained these images had been damaged,” she said.
The Trinity Episcopal Church recently put the signs up back in March with the message of letting neighbors know that they welcome all and love all people.
"This crime hurts the people of Trinity Episcopal Church; this crime also hurts the people of Newtown,” added Wyatt.
The church is asking anyone with information that may lead to identifying who did this to contact Newtown police.
Wyatt acknowledged the church has already found a spare sign for the meantime. They're working on a permanent plan for the future.
