Mott Haven is home to the Knowledge House, a center for learning and shaping the future leaders of the Bronx and beyond.
Tech experts teach Bronx youth and adults critical skills needed for a career in the tech industry.
“I saw my co-founder teach himself code. He taught himself Python, and I saw himself go from a minimum wage job to six figures. So, we really wanted to replicate that experience for the young people in the Bronx,” said Jereltn Rodriguez Williams, the co-founder and CEO of The Knowledge House.
The Knowledge House provides digital skills training in coding and design. They have free fellowships and apprenticeships for youth and adults, and they provide stipends for individuals white they’re in the program.
Davon Blanks, a web developer with The Knowledge House, told News 12 the center provided him with the confidence to work in the tech industry. He participated in one of their year-long programs and now teaches others the skills he learned.
“We build in-house applications, services, technological services for the community, especially for students, alumni and teachers. And we also extend those services for external clients as well as our community partners,” Blanks said.
There is a wide variety of skills one can learn at The Knowledge House.
