The Real Deal: Hot sectors hiring in New York
Looking for a new job? News 12 is taking a look at the hot sectors hiring in the state.
News 12’s Kristie Reeter has The Real Deal on some changes happening in the work force.
A new bankruptcy survey shows something surprising – workers who are worried about job security are the ones making moves.
“Normally when you are worried about your job security when a recession is thought to be on the horizon, you likely want to stay put and avoid rocking the boat," says Sarah Foster, Bank Rank analyst.
However, that is not happening.
"We saw that nearly nine in 10 Americans who were worried about their job security they are likely to take at least one career action," says Foster.
Foster tells News 12 that includes negotiating for a raise, asking for more flexibility in the workplace and quitting or searching for a new job.
Caleb Silver with Investopedia says "The state of New York has experienced a pretty robust jobs recovery in the past year. When we look at the sectors though that are hiring the most, you got to look at specialty trade contractors that's up nearly 17.6%. The civic and social organizations, they have been hiring as well, up more than 15% there, drinking places and in bars that's up more than 13% and travel or accommodations up 12.6% so some services but also some construction happening throughout the state."
City and municipal jobs, constructions jobs and service industries are all hiring.
