The Third Avenue BID says that trash is a major issue in The Hub, and claims that city sanitation crews are not coming as frequently as they should.
Michael Brady, of the Third Avenue BID, says sanitation crews are expected to clean up trash three times a week and once on the weekend. He claims that has not been consistent.
Brady says the trash is creating odors and promoting illegal dumping.
The BID has reached out to the Department of Sanitation, but says it received no response.
The Third Avenue BID says they would hire their own crews to pick up the trash, but that is illegal.
A spokesperson for the Department of Sanitation issued a statement saying, "The block is serviced at least once per day, seven days per week, and is an exceptionally heavy producer of waste materials."
