It’s been over a month since a massive fire tore through six businesses in Melrose.

The FDNY says it is still investigating the cause.

“This is very traumatic, that every day that the business is closed, there's money that they're losing,” says Pedro Suarez, from the Third Avenue Business Improvement District.

Suarez tells News 12’s Lindsay Tanney that he’s been working to get these business owners help. He is trying to connect them with the right resources so they can secure loans and potentially relocate.

News 12 also spoke with neighbors to see how the loss of these businesses affects them. Many of them say they miss these shops tremendously and can’t wait till they can reopen.

“Come quickly. Come sooner. We miss you, and I can't wait to be the first customer in your stores,” says Moses Rivera, a Melrose resident, who says these shops have been community staples for decades.
