A Bronx mother claims her living conditions have become unbearable since construction began on the roof of her NYCHA building.
Wendy Roman's eighth-floor apartment is right below where repairs and asbestos removal have been taking place at the Eastchester Houses. "I cry because I can't sleep at all," said Roman.
Roman tells News 12 that vibrations from the construction can be felt throughout her entire home. She says it is enough to rattle her nerves and that it typically starts in the morning and lasts until the late afternoon.
Roman says she has also been dealing with ongoing leaks in both her bedroom and living room. She says that has also worsened since the construction.
She says she has been sleeping on an air mattress for the past two weeks because of her leaky bedroom ceiling. Roman also says that because of the ceiling leaks she had to throw away her couch and her television.
Roman says she is seeking an apartment transfer so she can finally have some peace of mind.
