Streets across the borough were filled with cyclists Sunday as more than 4,000 riders gathered for the 31st annual Tour de Bronx.

The scenic bike ride, which started near Yankee Stadium at 161st Street and the Grand Concourse, gives participants a chance to explore neighborhoods throughout The Bronx, from the South Bronx to Wakefield to Orchard Beach – where cyclists were greeted with cheers and waves.

Riders had the option to take on a 10-, 25- or 40-mile route through the borough, enjoying some of the best views The Bronx has to offer.

Throughout the route, rest stops offered water and snacks to help participants power through their rides.

Organizers say the Tour de Bronx not only promotes health and fitness, but also highlights the borough’s parks, waterfronts and diverse communities.

The annual event is hosted by The Bronx Borough President’s Office and Transportation Alternatives and is considered New York State’s largest free cycling event.
