Thousands of kosher meals were handed out in Brooklyn Thursday thanks to a local restaurant owner.

Thousands of kosher meals were handed out in Brooklyn Thursday thanks to a local restaurant owner.
Hundreds stopped by Bnos Yisroel School on East 15th Street in Midwood to pick up free kosher meals.
The meals were provided by the owner of Bon Appetite on Coney Island Avenue, who says there were about 9,000 meals available.

He says the event is open to anyone, but safety is a priority. People are allowed into the area only a few at a time to maintain space, and no children are allowed for safety reasons. He says they’ve been doing this since March and plan to continue as long as they can.

"We're giving them all nutritious stuff everything's healthy these are hard times for all of us we're trying to make the best out of it and hopefully it'll come to an end as soon as possible so kids can go back to school,” says Meir Zanziper, owner of Bon Appetite.
They plan to be back on Monday at 10 a.m. on East 15th Street between Avenue O and Avenue P. He says they’ll continue providing these meals for as long as they can.
