A Throgs Neck family is demanding justice for their loved one who they say never got the justice he deserved in life.
A memorial was held Tuesday in memory of Jared D’Amico, a 30-year-old who survived a hit-and-run in 2019, but was recently found dead in his family home.
D’Amico died in his family home last week. Autopsy results are still pending, but his family believes he died from an accidental drug overdose.
His family says he was never the same after he was severely injured by a hit-and-run driver in February of 2019. They say he struggled both physically and emotionally to regain the positive attitude he once had.
They say he was getting his life on track and things were looking up for him, but that last week he met up with someone after getting a text.
The following day, the Bronx resident was found dead inside his bedroom.
The family says they’re not confident in the criminal system. They say it’s been two years and the driver who struck him has yet to be arrested by police.
The family is demanding answers. They say even though he’s now at peace, they’ll keep pushing to get the justice they feel is owed to him.
