An 18-year-old girl accused of stabbing a classmate inside a Bronx school bathroom stood before a judge today.

Police say 18-year-old Tiana Lopez stabbed, punched and kicked a classmate inside the bathroom at the Marie Curie School for Medicine, Nursing, and Health Professions on 120 W 231st St. around 11:30 a.m. on Monday. 

Police say the victim, who sustained stabs to her arms and legs, received five stiches.

Parents say the victim may not may have been the intended target in the attack. They say Lopez meant to attack another girl, but since she could not find her, she went after the girl's best friend. 

Thursday, school officials say there was an incident that involved a confrontation between a group of students. 

Police believe the stabbing may have been retaliation for Thursday's incident. 

Lopez has been charged with assault in the second degree. She was released on her own recognizance. 

She is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
