A 5-year-old little girl was granted a wish and got to celebrate a huge milestone— being cancer-free.

Djream Gaynor has been familiar with the halls at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore since she was about 2 years old. With family and staff alongside her, she got to ring the bell on Monday.

Gaynor's grandmother, Naomi Jiminez, tells News 12 it was traumatic when they first learned of her diagnosis , but that the help of Dr. Alissa Baker definitely got them through it.

"So, Djream has had a very long journey and has been incredibly successful with a type of tumor that is not only highly aggressive but when she presented it was in multiple places, meaning it was metastatic and the type of cancer that she has where metastatic is considered terminal," said Baker.

Baker says Gaynor has not only undergone chemotherapy but also surgery, a bone marrow transplant and radiation. She says the only reason Gaynor will need to return to the hospital is for checkups. She couldn't be happier.

"The fact that she is here with us and healthy is really amazing," said Baker.

Gaynor also received gifts from the Little Wishes organization, which sponsored the festivities, and tells News 12 that she wants to be a teacher when she grows up.
