The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for the Bronx Sunday night as torrential downpours caused flooding in and around the borough.
While the rains are expected to dissipate overnight, forecasts call for 1 to 2 inches of heavy rainfall which could cause an overflow of water that could impact the borough throughout the night.
The rain also came down hard on the Bronx River Parkway and other parts of the Bronx.
The city says highways and underpasses are especially vulnerable to flooding on top of other poor drainage areas.
Officials urge motorists who encounter heavy flooding not to drive through it but to turn around and find an alternate route.
