Retailer Toys R Us opened its doors nationwide Monday to prospective employees as it looks to bolster staff members heading into the holiday season.
Cashiers, sales members and overnight crews are among the positions offered at Toys R Us stores in the area, including the one on Baychester Avenue in Baychester.
The toy store giant says the reason for the event is to make sure all customers' needs are met during such a busy time, calling part-time workers "holiday heroes."
When it comes to tips for finding a seasonal job, online business magazine Kiplinger says to start searching online, checking websites such as Career Builder, Monster and Craigslist. It also recommends looking beyond retail, since shipping companies will also need extra help with packages. The last piece of advice is to be persistent.
Toys R Us will hold a second hiring day on Nov. 11.
