Hundreds of flights have been canceled or delayed at New York City-area airports, and frustrated travelers are stuck in the middle of it all.

At LaGuardia, at least 120 flights were canceled before noon. That number does not include the 138 total flights delayed. At JFK, 150 flights were delayed by noon and 81 cancelled.

The FAA announced a 10% cut on flights across 40 airports on Friday. The flight reductions came as some air traffic controllers — unpaid for weeks due to the government shutdown — have stopped showing up for work.

The Senate took a first step toward ending the shutdown Sunday, but final passage could still be several days away. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy made clear last week that flight cuts will remain in place until the FAA sees safety metrics improve.
