A 69-year-old woman has been living without water for nine months after the ceiling in her bathroom collapsed in January.
"I am living the nightmare of my life," Altagracia Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez told News 12 the issue started in her apartment at 1857 Walton Ave. in December after the water stopped running in her kitchen. The problems worsened after the ceiling collapsed at the top of the year.
"I hold back my tears because I'm not the type to be down, I suffer in silence, but what I'm experiencing is too big," Rodriguez said.
Her bathroom now has an opening above the toilet, exposing some pipes and dirt that falls down from time to time. Rodriguez has been filing 311 complaints since the issue began, and seven of her requests have been closed without further explanation. On Thursday, Rodriguez filed her eighth service request.
HPD told News 12 the building is part of the Alternative Enforcement Program (AEP), an enforcement tool for apartment buildings that have outstanding housing maintenance code violations.
News 12 is still waiting for a response about repairs in Rodriguez's apartment.
