Lumber was scattered across part of the Hutchinson River Parkway after a tractor-trailer crashed into an overpass.
The truck slammed into the Westchester Avenue overpass, which created heavy traffic and major headaches for Thursday morning commuters heading southbound.
In recent years, the Department of Transportation says the low-clearance bridge has been one of the most common overpass strikes in the city, despite warning signs along the on-ramps.
Sen. Chuck Schumer has even proposed legislation requiring truck drivers to have GPS training to avoid similar accidents in the future.
The highway has since been cleaned up with traffic returning to normal.
