An Uber driver in the Bronx says he believes he was attacked because of his race.
Mohammed Chawdury, who is of Bangladeshi descent, says he was verbally assaulted Friday evening.
Chawdury says he was driving a car of full of teenagers on Shakespeare and Jerome avenues around 8 p.m. when he stopped at a red light. He says the teens then not only verbally assaulted him, but beat him as well.
"Together they were just hitting me, telling me 'You can't stay here. You need to go back to your country,'" he says.
Chawdury sustained injuries to his face, nose and teeth.
