United Kingdom travelers coming into New York will be personally served quarantine orders from law enforcement.
Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the stricter measures for travelers from the country after a new strain of the coronavirus was discovered there.
The mayor says anyone not following the quarantine will be fined $1,000 a day by the city.
British Airways is now testing all passengers departing from Great Britain and flying to New York.
Starting Christmas Eve, Delta and Virgin Atlantic will require coronavirus testing up to 72 hours prior to departure for United Kingdom passengers bound for New York or Atlanta.
