The Umbrella Hotel is open in Melrose after nearly five years.

The modern, chic hotel on Elton Avenue officially opened last Thursday. It contains 56 rooms on eight floors. Amenities such as whirlpool baths are available in some rooms, and others are handicap-accessible.

Hotel officials say about a quarter of their customers are locals. They are also looking to hire Bronx residents for some open positions.

Managers told News 12 that they have booked nearly half of their rooms for the Fourth of July weekend. A fireworks show will be visible from its rooftop for guests.
