Friday marks the 248th birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps.
The Continental Congress established the Marines on this day back in 1775 leading up to the Revolution.
The first recruiting headquarters was in the Tun Tavern on Water Street in Philadelphia and is considered to be the birthplace of the Marines.
Since then, the Few and the Proud have fought for the U.S both on land and sea.
