A University Heights homeowner says he's getting the runaround from the city over four trees that are creeping onto his property.
Azaad Ali has lived in University Heights for 28 years and says the trees at the corner of his house have posed a problem for more than half of that time.
Ali says the branches of the trees have been leaning onto his roof for the past two years when it rains, causing his gutters to clog.
"It's very frustrating. As a homeowner it costs me money that I don't have," he says.
He says he has already spent $15,000 to fix his gutter years ago for the same issue.
Ali claims the New York City Parks Department has not responded to his most recent calls about trimming the branches.
Ali says the last time he dealt with leaves clogging his gutter, it took more than five years for the Parks Department to trim the branches.
New 12 reached out to the agency, after which it sent foresters to inspect the trees Monday afternoon. They created a work order to prune a small hanging limb but did not create work orders for house clearance.
"Risk is determined by the likelihood of a branch hitting a target and the consequence of that impact," the Parks Department said in a statement. "In this case the branches cleared the roof upon our inspection."
