Newly unsealed federal court documents reveal a shocking alleged plot to take down former Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy.
According to the papers, former County District Attorney Tom Spota was working with former Police Chief James Burke to get Levy out of office because they saw him as anti-cop and uncontrollable.
County Executive Steve Bellone says he's not surprised.
"I experienced it. I was targeted, people around me were targeted," says Bellone. "There are people here who are fighting to protect the status quo and unfortunately the status quo here was a corrupt, what I described as criminal enterprise, the power of which was centered in the District Attorney's office."
Spota is facing eight years in federal prison after being convicted of witness tampering and obstruction of justice for covering up the 2012 beating of a handcuffed suspect.
