With Thanksgiving just two weeks
away, New Yorkers are coming together to organize turkey drives and fundraisers
for those in need.
News 12 has compiled a list of
turkey drives and fundraisers in the Bronx and Brooklyn.

BRONX
The Bharati Foundation and Vishnu Mandir, in collaboration with Sen. Sepúlveda, will host a Festival of Lights celebration and a Thanksgiving food distribution on Nov. 19 from 2:30 to 5 p.m. at 1216 Noble Ave.
The Bronx Rising Initiative will host a turkey giveaway on Nov. 20 at noon at Bill Rainey Park.
Boston Laundry Mart and UpLife Foundation are holding a Thanksgiving food pantry distribution on Nov. 21 at 1 p.m. at 1490 Boston Road.
The Salvation Army’s Bronx
Tremont Corps will hold a food distribution on Nov. 19 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A
Thanksgiving dinner will be held for the community on Nov. 21 at 2 p.m.
The Pelham Parkway Neighborhood Association, in partnership with the Albanian American Open Hand Association, are sponsoring a turkey giveaway on Nov. 21 at 1 p.m. at 2141 Holland Avenue on a first come, first serve basis.
Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church is hosting a free giveback event to feed the community on Nov. 22 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 1488 Reverend Dr. Fletcher C. Crawford Way.
Griffin's Deli and All Skill Minority Man Power Inc. will be holding a community turkey distribution on Nov. 23 at 1 p.m. at Griffin's Deli, located at 400 E. Gunhill Rd. For the last two years, both businesses have given out more than 500 turkeys to the community.
The Salvation Army’s Bronx
Citadel Corps will also host a Thanksgiving meal on Nov. 24 from 1 to 2 p.m.
Immaculate Conception Parish
is
collecting donations through GoFundMe to have Thanksgiving meals to deliver to
seniors the day before Thanksgiving, and have meals ready to pick-up on
Thanksgiving Day. For the cost of $10 per meal, they are looking to provide
meals for 500 community members this year.
BROOKLYN
Elected officials including Sen. Zellnor Myrie, Assembly Member Diana Richardson, and other community leaders will host a Thanksgiving block party and food distribution featuring giveaways, pony rides, entertainment, and more on Nov. 20 at 11 a.m. at 1077 Nostrand Ave.
The Success Garden will have an event to feed the community on Nov. 20 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 461 Williams Ave.
The Salvation Army’s Brooklyn
Brownsville Corps will hold a food distribution on Nov. 20 at 12 p.m. and Nov.
23 at 2 p.m.
The Brooklyn Bank is organizing
their
fourth annual turkey giveaway. They are currently raising money through
GoFundMe to disribute turkeys on Nov. 21, with the goal of raising $55,000. Last
year the organization distributed over 2,000 bags of groceries to more than
1,000 families.
Reaching-Out Community Services
will host
"Operation Gobbler Giving" on Nov. 22, from 12-2 p.m.
Turkeys and trimmings will be distributed to more than 500 families that are
registered with their food program (not open to the general public).
The Salvation Army’s Brooklyn
Bushwick Corps will distribute meals on Nov. 23 from 12:30 to 2 p.m.
North Brooklyn Angels is raising
money through GoFundMe with the
goal of distributing approximately 1,000 frozen
turkeys to people in need, to prepare and distribute over 1,000 meals at
their community outposts the week of Thanksgiving, and to host a
socially-distanced sit-down Thanksgiving meal for neighbors at the Brooklyn
Expo Center.
Brooklyn chef Jax Dell'Osso is
raising funds through GoFundMe to provide both regular and vegan Thanksgiving
meals to those in need. Last year during the lockdown, she says she delivered
meals in various boroughs. Families in need that are interested in a meal and
sign up through his fundraiser.
