New Yorkers now have another hot spot to do their holiday shopping - while supporting small businesses.
In Downtown Brooklyn, Urbanspace set up a series of booths to bring holiday shopping and cheer to the neighborhood. Similar markets are regular setups in other spots in New York City, like Union Square and Bryant Park.
The vendors are small business owners from diverse backgrounds and offer a wide array of products. They say the exposure from the holiday market is great for business.
“I think I have a good blend of different products,” said Raul Osorio, owner of the White Llama, which sells clothes and products made in Peru. “They love it!”
“It’s really important because… to have a community and to have a borough that’s so diverse, we also want that to reflect in the retail experience,” said Ronny Oppong, market manager and curator for Urbanspace.
The market is open every day until Dec. 26 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
