The top high school cross country runners from the northeast were in Van Cortlandt Park Saturday for part of the Footlocker Cross Country Championship.

The northeast regional of the competition took place Saturday with runners from more than 10 states competing.

The Footlocker Cross Country Championship, which is now in its 40th year, is the longest running cross country race in the country.

Four regional 5Ks are taking place across the country with more than 10,000 runners competing to advance to the finals, which organizers say will be held in San Diego on Dec. 8.
