Mail thieves were caught on camera not once, but twice Thursday in The Bronx.
The first incident was at the corner of East Tremont and Southern Boulevard. The second was along White Plains Road.
Both times thieves could be seen taking mail out of the public mailboxes and driving off.
Advocates in the area tell News 12 that this has been an ongoing issue.
“What they do after they fish out the mail, they tamper with any checks. We have residents who have actually lost rent checks and the banks are not able to replace them or compensate them for their loss," said Roxanne Delgado, founder of Friends of Pelham Parkway.
News 12 reached out to the United States Postal Service Police to see what can be done to protect residents and have not yet heard back.
