Having fun and raising money is the object of virtual trivia night and so far, organizers have raised thousands for a number of Brooklyn organizations.
Justin Pigeon says Do Something: Trivia For a Cause started at the beginning of the pandemic.
"Me and my friend had a good friend that was a small business owner that owned a bar in Houston that we used to play trivia at, and so we decided to help them and have a fundraiser," says Pigeon.
Months later, more than 30 games have been played raising thousands of dollars for groups locally and nationally.
"We are really open to helping anyone in the community and in particular in Brooklyn and the Bronx," says Pigeon. "I have a special place in my heart for them. That's where I live. My wife is from New York City. I love seeing the local impact."
It's $30 for a team of 6 to play. Each game is dedicated to a specific cause. Some organizations that have benefited are Alpha Arts Alliance and the Campaign Against Hunger.
The games have a different theme each week, and the questions cover a variety of topics. The winner each week gets a free entry to a future game as well as a $30 gift card to the bar in Texas that started it all. If you don't live near that bar, the money gets donated back to the business.
