An empty outdoor space at a family shelter in Tremont is getting a big makeover.
With the help of volunteers and a $170,000 grant from Lowe’s Hometowns program, Samaritan Daytop Village is transforming the lot at Gloria’s House Family Transitional Residence on Park Avenue into a colorful new playground.
The project is designed to give kids living in transitional housing a safe space to play and for families to gather.
Officials say the playground is about 90% complete, with finishing touches underway before it officially opens.
The effort is part of Lowe’s national commitment to improve 10 million square feet of community spaces across the country.
