Groups in the South Bronx helped clean up the Third Avenue Bridge in Mott Haven Saturday.
More than three dozen helped to rid the bridge of items like needles, condoms and even human feces. Some were out since 3 a.m. Saturday morning with power washers.
Rocking the Bridge, a partnership between South Bronx stakeholders, is hoping to take on the area's five bridges after starting with the Third Avenue Bridge.
Volunteers of the project have also arranged to have drug counselors, health screening services and resources to help the homeless near the bridge.
Rocking the Bridge will be back in the area on Oct. 21 for more cleanup work. The group is also hosting a block party in the same location on Oct. 22.
