The life of FDNY firefighter Timothy “Timmy” Klein will be celebrated Thursday in Brooklyn.
Friends, family and FDNY members will gather to remember Klein, 31, who
passed away this past Sunday while battling a house fire in Canarsie.
Klein joined the FDNY back in 2015, and in that short amount of time he left an impression that will last a lifetime. He was described as a role model, and an excellent firefighter with his whole life ahead of him.
An emotional
ceremony was held Monday outside of Klein’s firehouse outside of Ladder 170/Engine Company 257 in Canarsie.
“He was my younger cousin and we both grew up wanting to be firefighters and were lucky enough to call ourselves firefighters just like our dads did,” said Keith Klein, Timothy’s cousin and fellow firefighter. “We didn't lose Timmy to a lack of training or fitness. Timmy was top notch. Sometimes, you just lose members due to the circumstance of the operation. He just didn’t make it home.
To help honor Klein’s memory, the FDNY set up the Firefighter Timothy Klein Foundation. All donations will go directly to the organizations that he often volunteered with. Also, funeral services for Klein will be at the Church of St. Francis Desales in Queens at 11 a.m. on Friday.
