One woman took a chance by quitting her Wall Street job to go back home and help students succeed in school.
Tai Abrams quit her consultant job to help young children across New York City with her “admission squad.”
“We have supported hundreds of students in getting into top high schools,” says Abrams. “We also help students with the most competitive screening programs.”
The Admission Squad started in 2016, helping a select group of minority students prepare for high school.
For four hours a week, sixth, seventh and eighth-graders strengthen their skills in math and English language arts, or ELA.
Admission Squad hopes to expand throughout the city in the next two years.
Abrams says they are looking at Harlem and the Bronx as future homes for their program.
