A bizarre incident in the Town of Wallkill involving two young children is now under investigation by Orange County Child Protective Services.
Police say a 6- and 7-year-old were found walking alone along Route 17M, near Route 302 last Wednesday, just before midnight.
They say a motorist saw the kids, pulled over to help and called police.
Authorities say the children told them they waited until their parents fell asleep to leave home and “buy snacks.”
Police are not releasing any additional information about the incident other than that the children were returned to their parents and CPS was notified.
