If you're someone who likes
to take in all the sights, but are also looking to save on gas and stay local
-- get ready for the ultimate staycation.
New York City has a new campaign that lets you plan
your trip out online zooming right into specific neighborhoods to
get the authentic New York experience like never before.
'We just recently launched our newest campaign called Get Local NYC, and
it's really created to encourage New Yorkers and incoming visitors to
experience the five boroughs like a New Yorker,” says Alyssa Schmid, senior
director of communications for NYC & Company. “What we are really doing is
focusing on a borough per month to really do a deep dive and extensive travel
itinerary for anyone who's looking to enjoy these experiences, so right now we
have our latest travel guide out that's called Brooklyn like a New Yorker.”
"Most recently, Coney Island just reopened for
the first time for the season, so it is a great time to get out there before
the summer crowds come in, and the cherry blossoms are now blooming at
the Brooklyn Botanic Garden so it is really a wonderful time to go see that,”
says Schmid “This is a very seamless way to create an itinerary. You can
actually click into each of the five boroughs that then takes you to
neighborhood pages and you can narrow it down by neighborhood and what you want
to do in each of those locations -- definitely in the tri-state area, we are
hoping people will come in for staycations, experience the authentic things
that you may not have known about before. We are really just trying to get
everybody who is coming into the city to experience NYC like a New Yorker.”
