Mayor Bill de Blasio says there should be an extension to the voter registration deadline for what he called "the most historical election of our lifetime."
He says New York City supports New York’s civil liberties lawsuit to extend the voter registration deadline up until Election Day on Nov. 3.
The mayor also took time to remind New Yorkers that the Census deadline is Oct. 31.
The city is in the middle of Census Week of Action encouraging New Yorkers to participate
Last week, New York City joined as a plaintiff in a lawsuit led by New York Attorney General Letitia James to stop President Donald Trump from interfering with census participation.
The mayor also addressed the arrest of Nikki Stone who was thrown into an unmarked vehicle by NYPD officers during a protest in Kipps Bay Tuesday night.
Police say she was wanted for damaging police cameras. The mayor says the crime is unacceptable, but says it was the wrong time and place to effectuate the arrest.
