He says service for 100,000 students will be available on the first day of school.
There will be 5,962 special education routes and 2,470 general education routes.
According to the mayor, there are 60 bus company contracts with new safety measures.
The mayor says 300,000 masks, 10,000 face shields and 30,000 bottles of sanitizer will be issued. There will also be nightly cleaning and electrostatic sprayers for each bus garage.
The mayor also announced that the NYPD made 160 guns arrests last week, marking a 25-year record.
The mayor said it is important to get guns off the streets to help curb gun violence in New York City.
