Watching weekend snow chances in The Bronx

Are you dreaming of a winter wonderland? You may be in luck this weekend! But don't plan your snowman building just yet – there’s a long way to go and a lot can change.

Just looking at a few different computer models, you can see the differences in what can potentially happen. As of Tuesday night, there are many possible outcomes. Here is an example of one computer model that calculates possible outcomes for Sunday into Monday. It indicates the potential for heavy snow.

However, an alternate computer model that also uses current information to calculate possibilities indicates a brief period of very light snow in our area.

There are over a dozen computer models all with different outcomes and continuously updating information. The more likely outcomes will become clearer as we get closer to the actual event.

What we know:

There's the chance for snow this weekend. But we are still five days away with plenty of time for models and predictions to adjust (and they will).
It is too soon to tell impacts, amounts, and placement of this storm. Meaning that some could see snow, but it might not be us.
Temperatures will be so cold that if any precipitation does fall, will be in the form of snow.

Here is what remains uncertain:

How much snow, where it will hit, when it will hit, how long it will last, and how significant it will be.
Will it be so cold that the air can't hold enough moisture for snowflakes?
Will the storm come north enough that our borough sees snow?

What to focus on now?

The bitter cold. Temperatures will be dangerous cold into the weekend and early next week with windchills feeling around or below zero. Have a plan for how to stay warm and keep outdoor time to a minimum.
