‘We appreciate them.’ NYPD Auxiliary officers lauded at church ceremony in Canarsie

A ceremony in Canarsie honored nearly two dozen NYPD Auxiliary officers from the 69th Precinct for their community service. NYPD Auxiliary officers are volunteers who assist police in ways such as patrolling subway stations and monitoring block parties.

Nearly two dozen NYPD Auxiliary officers from the 69th Precinct received awards and praises for their service in the community during a special ceremony Sunday in Canarsie.
It took place inside the Consuming Fire Ministries International Church on Avenue I.
NYPD Auxiliary officers are volunteers who assist police officers by patrolling subway stations, monitoring block parties and other events. Bishop Cheryl Barker says she's grateful for their presence throughout the community.
“We appreciate them, and we pray that they will continue to do the good work that they've been called to do," she said.
She also encouraged the community to show gratitude by keeping the neighborhood safe during this holiday season.
