Severe storms have cleared out of New Jersey, and now the Garden State must deal with a weekend warmup.
A heat advisory is in effect for parts of the state through Saturday evening. Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Dave Curren says that temperatures could reach into the 90s for Saturday and Sunday. That heat advisory affects parts of Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic and Union counties until 8 p.m. Saturday.
New Jersey residents are advised to stay out of direct sunlight and to limit time spent outdoors when possible. People should also drink plenty of water and wear loose clothing. The high temperatures and humidity could cause heat-related illnesses to occur.
Saturday will see some clouds in the morning, followed by mostly sunny skies. Daytime highs will reach around 93 degrees, with overnight lows dropping into the low-60s.
Sunday will see mostly sunny skies, with a few afternoon clouds. A stray thunderstorm is possible. Daytime highs will be around 90 degrees, with overnight lows around 70.
Temperatures will generally cool for the upcoming week, with daytime highs in the high-60s and 70s and a mix of sun and clouds.
