Starting Friday, celebrations and events will be popping off all across the Bronx and Brooklyn for hip-hop's 50th birthday.
The big celebration is set for Yankee Stadium at the Hip Hop 50 Live concert. Paying homage to a culture born half a century ago, the set list will include icons like Run DMC, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne and many more.

But that’s not the only place you can celebrate 50 years of the genre. There will also be a block party put on by the Universal Hip Hop Museum at noon Friday, as well as a hip-hop cleanup event.
On Friday and Saturday, BRIC Hip-Hop 50th Anniversary Weekend at BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn will also take place featuring performances by Digable Planets, Kari Faux, Wiki, Donwill, and Quinnette.
And on Saturday, the mayor’s hip-hop block party is taking over Sedgwick Avenue, the exact place hip-hop was born.
