Mark Kreynovich and Dillon Carroll, two friends from Brooklyn, have been in Europe for over a month to help during the Ukrainian crisis.
“Mark and I were just moved by the stories we were hearing,” Carroll says. “The things we were seeing, and because we were being enabled by our supporters and donors back home, we were able to just stay longer to continue helping,” he said.
The two have been traveling through Austria and now Poland to lend a hand where they can. They even started an online petition for donations and have already raised more than $120,000.
They plan to use the donations to gather critical equipment for Ukrainian refugees.
“We've been lucky enough to actually partner with a warehouse that's helping coordinate really large shipments of materials into the country itself and also help with refugee aid,” Carroll said.
As the turmoil unfortunately continues, Mark and Dillon plan to keep organizing to rebuild the countries affected.
“We're going to stay here as long as it takes; ultimately it’s not like this crisis ends and then there's no more aide or help that's needed, there's a country to be rebuilt, there are people to be reunited with family members, homes to be re-structured. There's so much to do," said Kreynovich.
